This includes an interview by Melissa Dougherty in discussion about the recent so-called bible translation known as The Passion version. Both Mike and Melissa have great channels that discuss Bible topics with clarity and honesty. I have enjoyed watching their videos often. This one is especially excellent. For those interested, Mike has a few other videos that dive into the details of The Passion version.

This provides a great resource for anyone who has run into The Passion Translation and wants to know more about it or its chief architect, Brian Simmons. You’ll hear about several issues with the translation, with example passages, you’ll find out about Brian’s supposed visions and how his credentials aren’t what he has claimed. The version will also be compared to other translations, show how it unjustifiably changes God’s word, reveal the truth about Brian’s so-called training and experience, and hear what actual scholars have said about TPT.

As with all things, I encourage each person to engage their own study of God’s Word and with prayer and discernment, embrace conclusions in submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit and the clear teaching of Scripture. I do not know Mike or Melissa personally, though I have watched their channel on a number of occasions and topics and believe they provide a trustworthy resource of information that remains true to biblical exegesis standards. I may not always agree with every personal opinion espoused; however, I appreciate how they each share their perspectives with grace, humility and clear reference to God’s Word. These are people I would love to hang out with sometime and I am quite comfortable recommending their channels to my visitors. For the record, I agree wholeheartedly with their concerns about The Passion translation.
